MICROSOFT XBOX 360

Microsoft's Xbox 360 game console is the successor to its Xbox launched in 2001. Xbox 360 is offered in several versions with differing features and pricing. The Arcade system comprises the system and a wired controller, the Premium system adds a 20GB hard drive, and the Elite offers a 120 GB hard drive and some enhanced connection options. Then there's the Halo 3 special edition in green and gold and featuring a HDMI port and 20 GB hard drive.

The Xbox 360 is controlled via its GUI known as the Dashboard. The dashboard is a tabbed interface with five "Blades" which allows the player to choose and launch games. The dashboard shows the gamer's gamercard, any messages from Xbox LIVE, and a friends list. The player can also adjust his personal and music settings here.

One of the exciting features of the Xbox 360 is Microsoft's Xbox Live service, which allows gamers to both compete online and download games, demos and such entertainment as movies and TV shows.

The Xbox 360 offers a number of attractive features. For one thing it provides 4 controller ports which is perfect for multiplayer gaming. It also offers an ethernet port for high speed connections for online gaming. The built-in hard drive (except for the Arcade model) is perfect for saving games as well as multimedia files. It also features one of the best controllers on the market.

But perhaps the key feature of the Xbox is what's under the hood, namely the hardware. This powerful graphics machine can whip up some awesome lifelike graphic displays. You can play Xbox 360 games on a standard TV, but HDTV really allows the next-generation graphic system to shine.
